Hi! My name is Jody, but all my friends call me Jo...I live in Western Washington state with my two cats, Tiggey and Justine. I also have an Arabian horse named Mardi, whom I call Punk. I am a hockey junkie, and one of my favorite things to do is watch NHL games on television and in Vancouver BC. I also paint and do pen and ink drawings. I haven't been able to ride my horse in a year or more due to my health. I also have cancer, and have recently been told that I am terminally ill. I try not to let that get in the way of my life, though...I am hoping to be able to keep a journal of my life, illness, and general goings-on. My reason for this is so that people might see it, and know how it feels to go through such a thing. Maybe it will help someone deal better with a family member that has cancer (or any other illness) or help someone with cancer know that they are not alone. Grandiose ideas, but if it helps one person, that's perfect. Let me tell you more about me...
I am no great artist, and I draw and paint to please myself...I also handmake cards, wall hangings, christmas ornaments, and anything else I am moved to create. I give all this stuff away...to friends and family members, and anyone else that shows the slightest bit of interest...
Now to my animals...Tiggey is a 12 year old, 25 pound ( huge! ) black tabby...and rules the house with an iron paw. Justine is his loyal girl Friday, and does her best to follow in his footsteps. She is 2 years old and less than half of Tiggey's size--a grey and white blur, most of the time. She loves to play. I used to laugh at people that considered their animals "babies". I now understand why...they are my babies, and spoiled rotten. Mardi, my horsey, is just as spoiled as the cats...He does tricks, and is a joy to be around. I got him when he was 5 months old, a starved, neglected little guy...There were tons of horses in the barn that were more suited to what I wanted, but when I saw him in that stall, I was hooked. I bought him and took him home that same day. I almost lost him twice that first winter, but with lots of help from my friend Lorraine, we pulled him through. That spring, he was a completely different horse. He has excellent bloodlines and has turned into the most beautiful horse in the world. He, along with my cats, have been one of the biggest blessings in my life. He is turning 8 this year.
Firends you say? I have many valuable people in my life. I have four friends that I consider my best. There is Sherri, an invaluable pal that I've had for 19 years...Nanette, who has been hanging tough with me for 17 years, Kandi, who has been friends with me since 8th grade...It's been 17 years for her, too...and last but not least, there is Todd. We worked together on a cruise ship 3 years ago, and have been stuck together since! I also have TONS of new buddies and confidants in HOLAS...I have an adopted Grammy, a special horse friend, a retired professor, a great lady who can talk hockey with me until we're both blue in the face...I can't even begin to tell you haw valuable those in HOLAS are...There is also Pat, the lady that is doing all the work on this website...Thanks Pat! :)
